New shingles vaccine, Shingrix, covered as of March 1
Effective March 1, Priority Health covers the newly FDA-approved shingles vaccine, Shingrix, for adults aged 50 and older. This change is based on the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) final recommendation on Jan 26.
Shingrix is a herpes zoster vaccine officially named Zoster Vaccine Recombinant, Adjuvanted (Shingrix). The CPT code is 90750.
Covered by all plans
Shingrix is now covered for commercial employer group and MyPriority® plans, Medicaid, and Medicare Part D. For Medicare only, Shingrix is covered under the pharmacy benefit rather than the medical benefit.
Zostavax is also covered
We will continue to cover Zostavax as a preventive benefit for adults 60 and older.
