Drug recall: Paroex® Oral Rinse, USP 0.12%

On Nov. 23, 2020, the FDA requested that prescription Paroex® (chlorhexidine gluconate) Oral Rinse, USP 0.12% manufactured by Sunstar Americas, Inc. be removed from the market due to microbial contamination. Paroex® is used to treat gingivitis between dental visits.

We’re notifying members

Approximately 36 Priority Health members across business lines are impacted by this recall. We’re sending letters to those members, asking that they contact their health care provider for a different treatment option, and to dispose of any current or unused product. 

What do providers need to do?

If your patients contact you, work with them on alternative options. Dispensing pharmacies are contacting any patients who have received a recalled product and may be able to replace with another generic from a different manufacturer.
