We give these awards to physicians and physician offices which meet or exceed the national 90th percentile across 13 performance outcomes in preventive care and chronic disease measures, including cancer and depression screening, immunizations and chronic condition management.

During 2022, and in partnership with physicians, Priority Health helped health plan members avoid chronic disease complications from conditions such as congestive heart failure, diabetes mellitus and hypertension at rates higher than state and national averages. For example, more than 78% of Priority Health commercial members with diabetes had a controlled HbA1c level, 14% above the national average. About 66% of commercial members with hypertension had controlled blood pressure, 10% above the national average.

This year marks the 36th anniversary of the start of the Quality Awards. What started with recognition of 30 practices in 1986 has grown to recognize more than 200 practices statewide.
