Refer your patients to $0-cost Diabetes Prevention Programs

Through partnerships with various organizations in the communities we serve, Priority Health offers the nationally recognized Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) at zero cost to most members. We're the first health plan in Michigan to do so. Why? The DPP is proven to reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by up to 71%, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Since we began offering the program in 2013:

  • More than 1,600 members have participated
  • 65% of members lose 5-7% of their starting weight
  • 72% meet the goal of exercising 150 minutes or more each week
The program is available to all commercial plan members, both individual and employer-sponsored, and in the greater Grand Rapids area to Medicaid members.

2018 Medicare coverage change

Beginning January 1, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is also supporting these programs. It's requiring all health plans to offer Medicare beneficiaries access to evidence-based diabetes prevention services at no cost to the health plan's members.
