Pre-ACA plans extended to 2021

08/19/2020

Earlier this year, both the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approved another extension of pre-Affordable Care Act (ACA) or transitional health insurance plans through 2021.

Pre-ACA plans extended, with no rate change

We are pleased to be one of the few health plans nationally to offer the choice and flexibility of this type of coverage to our members. And this year we are keeping rates flat, which means no rate increase to premiums for 2021.

What does this mean for your clients?

For individuals enrolled in a pre-ACA plan, they can renew with Priority Health for one more year, with coverage extended through Dec. 31, 2021 with no rate increase to their current premiums.

What does this mean for you?

The good news is that if you have clients who are enrolled in a pre-ACA plan, they can renew their coverage through 2021.

We will continue to email you a list of your renewing pre-ACA clients (including those with an age band change) on a monthly basis; a hard copy notice is also mailed to you. You can download a sample of the notice your clients receive, as well as the CMS enclosure that explains their options.
