Retirement of 999 implementation acknowledgments, effective Jan. 1, 2027

Published on Oct 26, 2026

Effective Jan. 1, 2027, in alignment with the launch of our new Provider Portal, we’ll no longer return 999 Implementation Acknowledgment transactions for electronic claims submissions. You should instead use 277CA Claim Acknowledgment and 276/277 Claim Status transactions to monitor claim receipt and status.

What you need to do

If your organization currently monitors 999 files as part of your EDI workflow, update your processes before Jan. 1 to use the appropriate 277CA and 276/277 transactions instead.

If an entire claim file is rejected, you'll receive an email from our EDI Operations team.

If you work with a clearinghouse or practice management vendor, contact that vendor to ensure any automated claim acknowledgement or status monitoring processes are updated accordingly.
