Submit transplant & NICU authorizations via our provider portal, effective Sept. 1

Starting Sept. 1, 2026, submit authorization requests for the following through our Provider Portal:

  • NICU & sick newborn
  • Solid organ transplant
  • Bone marrow / stem cell transplant

Currently, we accept these requests via fax. Submitting through the portal will be a faster, more efficient way to process these requests.

Note: Per CMS requirements, we’ll continue to accept fax submissions for Medicare members; however, we strongly encourage use of the Provider Portal whenever possible.

Why are we making this change?

This change coincides with our Provider Portal’s transition to Epic’s platform. Our current authorization tool, GuidingCare, can’t intake NICU and transplant authorization requests, so we’ve accepted them via fax. However, the authorization tool within our new Provider Portal can.

No matter what EMR you use, you’ll be able to submit authorization requests through our new portal.

Reminder: GuidingCare will be retired on Sept. 1

As a reminder, our GuidingCare authorizations tool will be retired on Sept. 1 when our new Provider Portal launches. This means you’ll submit and manage your authorization requests through the new portal’s authorization tool.

New Provider Portal account will be required

As part of this transition, you’ll need to set up an account with our new Provider Portal. This is true even if you have an account in our current portal, prism. Provider Portal registration will open this summer. We encourage you to register for your portal account as soon as possible to avoid disruption, as the portal will be the primary method for submitting and managing these authorization requests moving forward. Get more information in our Provider Manual

Authorization training materials to come

This summer, we’ll also offer training materials and webinars dedicated to authorization submissions in our new portal – including specific instructions for submitting transplant and NICU services. Get more information and sign up for these webinars in our Provider Manual.
