Quality Awards 2021: Priority Health celebrates top physician offices 

(GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – August 17, 2022) Priority Health has announced the recipients of the 2021 Quality Awards, which recognize top physician offices that improve health care outcomes for patients across Michigan. From Traverse City to Ann Arbor to Grand Rapids and beyond, Priority Health has awarded more than 150 Quality Awards to practices throughout the state.

The awards are given to physicians and physician offices that receive the highest overall scores through the Priority Health Primary Care Provider Incentive Program. Offices must meet or exceed the national 90th percentile across 13 performance outcomes in preventive care and chronic disease measures, including cancer and depression screening, immunizations and chronic condition management.

“We are truly grateful to work with such outstanding physician partners, who work diligently to keep Michigan residents safe and healthy,” said Praveen Thadani, president of Priority Health. “The Quality Awards are our way of recognizing excellence in care and expressing our gratitude and appreciation for their dedication, talent and merit.”

During 2021, and in partnership with physicians, Priority Health helped health plan members avoid chronic disease complications from conditions such as congestive heart failure, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension at rates higher than state and national averages. For example, more than 74% of Priority Health members received recommended routine colorectal cancer screening exams, 9% above the national average. About 77% of members received recommended breast cancer screenings, 4% above the national average.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the start of the Quality Awards. What started with recognition of 30 practices in 1986 has grown to recognize more than 150 practices statewide.
