Priority Health to host Health Plan Innovation Roundtable event focused on addressing priority healthcare issues

(Grand Rapids, Mich. – Oct. 16, 2019) Michigan-based Priority Health has earned national recognition for its innovative approach to improving the health and lives of the people it serves. Today, the company announced that it will be hosting a cohort for an upcoming Health Plan Innovation Roundtable (HPIR) event taking place in Grand Rapids from October 23-24, 2019 at the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce. HPIR, a collaborative group of regional health plans and innovation accelerator, excels in identifying and prioritizing emerging solutions and companies that advance the strategic priorities of its health plan members. Current health plans involved with HPIR, including Priority Health, represent more than 10 million people nationwide.

These regional health plans kick off their first day with members cross sharing results and learnings from their recent innovation activities along with an interactive panel discussion on Pharmacy and the inevitability of PBM disruption. On the second day, 12 innovative companies have been invited to present their unique solutions and tools that address the predetermined issues. The presentations will be in a similar format to ABC’s hit show Shark Tank, which pairs innovators with high-profile investors.

The following innovative companies, that have been hand-selected from a larger pool of candidates, will be presenting for the HPIR members at the October event:

  • Cricket Health, Inc. (Care Delivery Innovation)
  • Roster (Care Delivery Innovation)
  • Contessa (Care Delivery Innovation)
  • Allium (Data Analytics)
  • NextHealth (Data Analytics)
  • Ableto (Mental Health / Mindfulness
  • Ginger (Mental Health / Mindfulness)
  • Cognoa (Mental Health / Mindfulness)
  • ConsejoSano (Engagement Platform)
  • WellBe Senior Medical (High Cost Claims Management)
  • Castlight (Health Benefits Platform)
  • Wellthy (Care Delivery/Coordination)

“Priority Health is thrilled to be hosting the HPIR event here in Grand Rapids and we look forward to engaging peer-to-peer learning sessions and presentations from some of the brightest minds in our industry,” said Brian McLane, senior director of product solutions for Priority Health. “We are always looking to tomorrow and searching for new, innovative ways to ensure our members are receiving high quality, affordable insurance and care, and these events are a launch pad for amazing partnerships.”

HPIR is a new offering from Employee Health Innovation Roundtable (EHIR), an organization that has been helping the nation’s leading companies sift through the noise and stay ahead of the curve for more than five years. EHIR’s launch stemmed from a desire of benefits managers at top companies across the nation wishing they could take more of a lead when it comes to managing the healthcare of their employees. Their team intentionally designs cohorts to be small and diverse, while ensuring that there is no geographic overlap among members so that they can help build trusted relationships and foster an intimate, nimble and highly collaborative forum.

“Our overall mission is to accelerate the adoption of innovation to improve the health, wellness and productivity of employees, and it felt like a natural progression to connect with leaders in the healthcare space,” said Michael Laquere, CEO of EHIR. “Priority Health is a leading force within the insurance industry and we are excited to be partnering with their innovative team on this upcoming HPIR event.”

Implementing new, innovative, and intuitive tools that help members monitor and improve their health has been a large focus for Priority Health over the last several years. From the introduction of the new Cost Estimator tool and tailored Wellbeing Hub, to the PriorityWell product and brand-new mobile app, the Priority Health team is eager to partner with innovators who will help drive a personalized wellness experience for their members.
