Priority Health takes home four WMPRSA Proof Awards

(Grand Rapids, Mich.—June 18, 2021): Priority Health, Michigan’s fastest growing health plan, recently earned top recognition during the West Michigan Public Relations Society of America (WMPRSA) 2021 PRoof Awards for exemplary communications efforts throughout 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic. The insurer took home four separate awards in different categories. WMPRSA, a local chapter of the nation’s leading professional organization within the communications industry, hosts their annual PRoof Awards to recognize West Michigan professionals who successfully use skill, creativity and resourcefulness to address communication challenges.

Priority Health’s communications efforts earned recognition across these award categories:

  • COVID-19 Internal Communications: Silver
  • Tactic Category – New Digital Platform: Gold
  • Tactic Category – Annual Reports: Gold
  • Newsletters: Gold

"2020 was a challenging year, and one that highlighted the importance of effective and timely communications," said Nathan Foco, Vice President of Marketing and Customer Experience at Priority Health. "Our team is proud to have received this recognition from WMPRSA for both internal and external communications efforts.”

Priority Health’s internal COVID-19 communications campaign, implemented by the corporate communications team, focused on making sure that all Priority Health team members felt informed, engaged and supported while maintaining the organization’s culture, virtually.

Execution of the internal COVID-19 communications campaign included monthly virtual Microsoft Teams Live all-staff meetings, real-time updates from Priority Health’s president, Praveen Thadani, a COVID-19 information posting on Priority Health’s intranet, and employee resources focused on emotional and mental health and wellbeing. The switch to live, virtual monthly all-staff meetings provided an accessible way for Priority Health team members to stay informed and involved.

The 2020 Community Relations Report is an annual report that highlighted Priority Health’s involvement in communities across the state and the organization’s commitment to improving health equity. Through supporting data, the report showed the success of different community initiatives, including COVID-19 relief efforts, diaper drive partnerships in southwest Michigan and Priority Health for Good Giving Week.

The EmployeeInsider, which earned Gold in the newsletter category, is a monthly employee newsletter that announces upcoming events and initiatives, showcases team members and current projects and more.
