Priority Health streamlines member experience with launch of new Rx search tool

(Grand Rapids, Mich. – September 7, 2021) Priority Health, Michigan's fastest growing health plan, announced that it has expanded and enhanced its online pharmacy pricing capabilities. The insurer's more than one million members are now able to search for prescription drugs on the home page of the member portal. The new function allows members to search medications to determine coverage and explore alternative options. From there, members can use Priority Health's industry leading shopping tool, Cost Estimator, to calculate how much they will pay out of pocket based on the current spending associated with their plan and deductible.

"We believe health care costs should be clear and easy to navigate. Our team saw a need for improving the member experience around understanding prescription costs, and this new Rx search has done just that," said Brian McLane, Senior Director of Market Intelligence, Market Analytics & Digital Products at Priority Health. "Our goal is to provide members with an integrated user experience that gives them the information they need to make informed health care decisions."

To access the new Rx search, members can log in to their Priority Health member account on a desktop or in the mobile app and begin searching directly on the home page. The search function will provide a clear display of drug categorization, cost breakdown, alternative drug options, and whether the drug is a preferred brand, generic or not covered. The tool will then inform members of their current coverage and deductible status.

In addition to providing tools to understand prescription prices, members also have access to Priority Health's Medication Therapy Management (MTM) program at no additional cost. The program connects members with a certified pharmacist for a yearly comprehensive medication review that can help reduce costs and improve health outcomes. The free service includes a review of medications and recommendations of lower cost alternatives, advice to help relieve side effects, and a comprehensive list of medications that can be shared with primary care providers.
