Priority Health continues its support of Southwest Michigan organizations to provide diapers to families in need

(Grand Rapids, Mich. – Oct. 13, 2020) Priority Health is extending its support of the Battle Creek Family YMCA/Battle Creek Diaper Initiative and St. Luke’s Diaper Bank in Kalamazoo. Through December 30, Priority Health will support local families in need of diapers and help keep up with increased demand caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Over the summer, our team experienced a warm welcome in both Battle Creek and Kalamazoo, and we are honored to be able to continue supporting these wonderful organizations and their diaper drives,” said Shannon Wilson, Director of Medicaid Outreach and Quality at Priority Health. “We always strive to be in the communities that we serve and work directly community members. COVID-19 has limited what we can do, so we are extremely thankful for partners like the Battle Creek Family YMCA and St. Luke’s that allow us to give back in a meaningful way.”

From October 7 to December 30, Priority Health will continue to lend its support to the Battle Creek Family YMCA and Battle Creek Diaper Initiative serving approximately 100 families per week. Every Wednesday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. EST, families can drive through to pick up diapers and wipes at the Battle Creek Family YMCA. Since the pandemic began, the organization has been in constant need of diapers, giving away nearly 4,000 diapers per week.

Every Tuesday from October 6 to December 29, Priority Health will support drive-up diaper distributions held by St. Luke’s Diaper Bank in Kalamazoo. From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. EST, families will be able to pick up diapers at alternate distribution sites including St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and the Douglass Community Association. Please see St. Luke’s Diaper Bank’s Facebook page for the schedule. Founded in 2015, St. Luke’s Diaper Bank provides diapers to an average of 100 families per week in the city of Kalamazoo.

These efforts are in addition to the nearly 80,000 diapers distributed over the summer months in Southwest Michigan through the support of Priority Health.
