Christina Barrington, Pharma. D., named Vice President of Pharmacy Programs of Priority Health

(GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – June 12, 2017) Priority Health, one of Michigan’s largest health plans, announced that Christina Barrington has been named the new vice president of pharmacy programs. Barrington will be responsible for setting the strategy for the pharmacy operations to clearly align with the organization’s vision and mission.

“With pharmacy being a key driver of overall health care cost trends, it is critical that we have exceptional leadership in place,” said Dr. James Forshee, chief medical director for Priority Health. “With her passion for driving excellence, I am confident that Christina will continue to identify initiatives for Priority Health to provide quality and affordable pharmacy benefits.”

Barrington brings more than 20 years of managed care experience to Priority Health. Most recently, she served as the senior director of clinical quality management for OptumRx in Schaumburg, IL. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing and setting the strategic direction for the quality oversite of clinical programs and services. Her research on the impact of value-based benefit designs was featured across several national medical journals. Barrington serves as president of the Midwest Affiliate of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy. She earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy from St. Louis College of Pharmacy and completed her residency in Clinical Pharmacy Practice at University Medical Center in Florida.
