Did you know you can save time by using virtual care for non-emergency care? The next time you're feeling ill but can't get in to see your regular doctor right away, try virtual care for a convenient alternative to the emergency room or urgent care.
Virtual visits are a fast and easy way to see a doctor 24/7. You will need access to an internet connection and can use your computer, smartphone or tablet. Getting care virtually is no different then seeing a doctor in person. Virtual care providers are licensed medical professionals, like your doctor you see in person. They can make a diagnosis and write prescriptions.
Virtual care is the perfect option for nonemergency health concerns like:
- Allergies, bites and stings
- Back pain
- Sore throat
- Cold, cough and flu
- Diarrhea and heartburn
- Earache
- Fever and headache
- Pink eye
- Rashes/hives
To schedule a virtual care visit:
- Check with your doctor's office to see if they provide virtual care, OR
- Log in to your member account
In some cases, virtual care may not be the best option. When in doubt, follow the guidelines below.
Urgent care
If you have a non-life threatening condition that can't wait for a doctor visit, you can go to an urgent care center to see a doctor.
- Minor broken bones and fractures in fingers or toes
- Sprains and strains
- Severe sore throat or cough
- Stomachache
Emergency room
The emergency room is designed to treat those who need immediate care and cannot wait for a doctor's appointment, a virtual visit or urgent care center.
- Bleeding that won't stop
- Pain in the chest or one arm
- Poisoning or drug overdose
- Seizure or slurred speech
- Major broken bones
If you are unable to get to the ER, please call 911 immediately.
