Choosing your 2026 health plan: what you need to know

Page last updated on: 9/25/25

Open Enrollment Period for 2026 health plans begins November 1, 2025.

Here’s what you can do to ensure you’re prepared:

1. Make sure your contact information is up to date with the Marketplace

  • Log in to healthcare.gov
  • Select “Manage account settings”
  • Edit email and mailing addresses, if needed

Why it’s important

If enrolled in a plan through the Marketplace, you may be contacted via email or mail with important information from the Marketplace.

2. Compile important tax documents to verify household income

Examples could include:

  • 1040 federal or state tax return
  • W-2 and/or 1099 wages and tax statements
  • Pay stub
  • Self-employment ledger documentation such as a Schedule C
  • Social Security benefits letter
  • Unemployment benefits letter

Why it’s important

You may be asked to submit these documents during your 2026 enrollment. Keeping your household and income information up to date with the Marketplace ensures you will receive the right amount of savings (like subsidies such as premium tax credits).

3. Review your current health plan

  • Ask yourself what you like about your current plan
  • Are all the providers you’d like to see covered by your current plan?
  • Think about prescriptions you take or may need going forward

Why it’s important

By having a strong sense of health care needs for you and your family, you’ll know what to look for in a 2026 plan.

4. Enroll in a 2026 MyPriority health plan

  • Look closely at premium and deductible costs
  • Ensure your health plan benefits include extras you’ll use: virtual care, behavioral health coverage, discounts on prescriptions, and more
  • See all MyPriority plan benefits
  • Open Enrollment Period runs from Nov. 1, 2025 until Jan. 15, 2026

    • Enrollment between Dec. 16, 2025 and Jan. 15, 2026 will have coverage effective Feb. 1, 2026.
