License expansion for behavioral health professionals

We’ve updated our limited license policy for behavioral health professionals

06/15/2022

Effective today, certain behavioral health providers with a limited license designation may provide services to our commercial, individual and Medicaid members when supervised by and billing under a fully licensed and credentialed provider.

Why are we updating this policy?

Based on feedback from the behavioral health provider network, we’re updating the policy to increase member access to timely behavioral health services.

What do you need to know?

  • Both the limited license holder and the supervisor no longer need to be part of an accredited organization.
  • Applies to specific limited licenses. Visit the Behavioral Health billing page for guidance on submitting claims for supervisory billing.

Coming soon

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists (LMFT’s) can join the Priority Health network. We’re currently making systems changes to support this new licensure type, so please continue to check the Priority Health website for the availability to apply. Once participating, an LMFT may supervise an LLMFT. Once available, LMFT’s will follow normal Priority Health enrollment processes, including credentialing.

Thank you as always, for partnering with us to provide the best care for our members and your patients.
