On Jul. 1, 2025, Nostrum Laboratories, Inc. initiated a voluntary recall of Sucralfate 1 gram tablets after the company discontinued its quality assurance program for this medication due to bankruptcy. Without a quality assurance program, Nostrum Laboratories can’t support or guarantee this medication meets its intended specifications.
What does Sucralfate treat?
Sucralfate is primarily used for the treatment and prevention of ulcers.
We’re notifying members
305 Priority Health members are impacted by this recall. We’re sending letters to members this week to inform them of the recall, request they dispose of any current or unused medication and encourage them to contact their provider for different treatment options.
What do you need to do?
If your patients contact you, work with them on alternative options. Pharmacies are also contacting patients who’ve received this medication to inform them of the recall and, in some cases, help them replace their Sucralfate prescription with a generic version from a different manufacturer.
