THC transition to Priority Health: Frequently asked questions for commercial group agents

Last updated 04/21/2021

Throughout 2021 we will be transitioning THC commercial group business to the Priority Health platform. Below are answers to frequently asked questions you may have about the transition. Thank you for your continued partnership as we continue to focus on delivering affordable, accessible care to our members.

What to know about the Total Health Care (THC) commercial group transition

Priority Health acquired THC in 2019 and together we have been strategically evaluating the business to maintain long-term sustainability while delivering viable solutions to the market. THC staff has been fully integrated into Priority Health and we're excited to welcome your business as well.

  • THC large groups with renewals August – January will transition off THC plans at their upcoming renewal to a similar Priority Health plan. Agents will receive the Priority Health quote approximately 90 days prior to the group's effective date.

  • THC large groups with renewals February – July will be able to maintain their current THC plans through Dec. 31, 2021. You will need to work with your account team to determine the most appropriate plan design and timing for transitioning your group(s) to Priority Health.

  • ACA regulations allow THC small groups with August – December renewals to renew; however, they also will need to migrate off THC plans by Dec. 31, 2021. Agents will receive both a THC and Priority Health quote approximately 90 days prior to the group's effective date. We encourage you to consider alternate Priority Health plans in place of THC small group (August – December) renewals to avoid the need to reevaluate and transition coverage at the end of the year.

Any new large and small group quotes will be for Priority Health products instead of THC moving forward.

To ensure timely processing and set up of Priority Health benefits, we highly encourage decisions and paperwork be submitted 45 days prior to the effective date.

  • All THC large groups will receive notice of this change 90 days before their THC renewal date, or by Oct. 1, 2021, whichever comes first. The agent of record will be copied on the notice.
  • All THC small groups will receive notice of this change by Oct. 1, 2021.
