Get back to your routine.

We know returning to the hospital is the last thing you want to do. That's why we've put together these resources to help manage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and avoid a trip back to the hospital. Be sure to talk with your doctor about what is best for you.

  • Schedule a follow-up appointment with your doctor even if you are feeling better.
  • Take your medications as prescribed.
  • Stay hydrated and eat a healthy diet.
  • Call your doctor if you are experiencing:
      • Shortness of breath
      • Chest tightness
      • Change in color, smell, amount or thickness of mucus
      • New or increased swelling in your ankles, feet or legs
      • Feeling irritable or fatigued
      • You have a fever, pale skin, blue or purple lips or difficulty sleeping
