Quality Awards 2022: Priority Health announces top physician offices
Priority Health has announced the recipients of the 2022 Quality Awards, which recognize top physician offices that improve health care outcomes for patients across Michigan. From Detroit to Muskegon and Petoskey to St. Joseph, Priority Health has recognized more than 200 practices throughout Michigan.
The awards are given to physicians and physician offices that receive the highest overall scores through the Priority Health Primary Care Provider Incentive Program. Priority Health sets high targets, with practices needing to meet or exceed the national 90th percentile across 13 performance outcomes in preventive care and chronic disease measures, including cancer and depression screening, immunizations and chronic condition management. Awards are based on performance throughout the previous calendar year, so awards presented in 2023 honor provider performance in 2022.
“We’re proud to collaborate with such exceptional physician partners who provide quality care and work diligently to help make Michigan a healthier state,” said Praveen Thadani, president of Priority Health. “This recognition program is our way of celebrating excellence in care and expressing our appreciation for their dedication and talent.”
During 2022, and in partnership with physicians, Priority Health helped health plan members avoid chronic disease complications from conditions such as congestive heart failure, diabetes mellitus and hypertension at rates higher than state and national averages. For example, more than 78% of Priority Health commercial members with diabetes had a controlled HbA1c level, 14% above the national average. About 66% of commercial members with hypertension had controlled blood pressure, 10% above the national average.
This year marks the 36th anniversary of the start of the Quality Awards. What started with recognition of 30 practices in 1986 has grown to recognize more than 200 practices statewide.
