Priority Health again has highest rated Michigan-based Medicare plans by federal health agency

(GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — October 30, 2023) Priority Health, a nationally recognized nonprofit health plan serving more than 1.3 million members, has again been recognized as a top performer through the 2024 Medicare Star Ratings released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Priority Health’s HMO/POS and PPO plans both earned 4.5 stars (out of 5) for 2024, the highest rating granted to a Michigan-based plan this year. Every year Medicare evaluates plans based on a 5-star rating system. Priority Health remains committed to high-quality plans that meet members’ needs and is consistently one of the highest-rated plans in Michigan.

“These exceptional ratings show our commitment to ensuring our members get the service and care they need at an affordable cost,” said Joyce Chan Russell, senior vice president of government markets at Priority Health. “Year after year, Priority Health continues to be a leader in quality and will continue offering better benefits and lower premiums for Medicare members.”

The Medicare Rating program is a national rating system used by CMS to shine a light on health plan quality and performance. The program evaluates how well a plan performs across many different quality measures, which are related to health outcomes, plan operations and member satisfaction.

Priority Health was recently recognized as a top performer by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for its accredited Medicaid, Medicare and commercial health plans. Priority Health’s Medicare HMO/POS plans received 4.5 stars (out of 5), making them the top-rated Medicare plans in Michigan and among the highest-rated plans in the nation. Priority Health’s Medicare PPO plans received 4 out of 5 stars.

In addition to plan ratings, Priority Health was awarded Health Equity Accreditation status from NCQA and was named to Newsweek’s America’s Best Customer Service 2024 list.

CMS and NCQA ratings were released ahead of annual and open enrollment. The annual enrollment period for Medicare is Oct. 15 to Dec. 7, 2023. The open enrollment period for individual and family health plans is Nov. 1 to Jan. 15, 2024.
