Priority Health challenges new runners with "My First 5k"

(Grand Rapids, Mich. – April 22, 2016) Priority Health is the proud sponsor of the inaugural My First 5K challenge at the Borgess Run on May 8. This run challenge encourages the 98 percent of Americans that have not completed a 5K to begin their fitness journey.

"The Priority Health My First 5K challenge is a creative way to inspire our community to take that first step in being healthy!" said Blaine Lam, Borgess Run race director. "It encourages participation of all fitness levels."

The challenge begins when someone checks the box "My First 5K" when they register. First-time runners will receive a special race day bib to set them apart from the crowds. Finally, when they cross the finish line, a "My First 5K" bell will ring to signify their accomplishment and the race team will have a special celebration in the Tent City area!

"Priority Health has been a proud sponsor of the Priority Health 5K Walk at the Borgess Run for 11 consecutive years," says Jeff Hoerle, sales and client director at Priority Health in Kalamazoo. "We are thrilled to also offer the My First 5K challenge to inspire people to improve their health."

Sign up for the My First 5K challenge by visiting the Borgess Run website: www.borgessrun.com. A "Five for Five" video is available on the Borgess Run website with tips and advice for first-time runners.
