Advance Beneficiary Notification of Noncoverage

Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services (CMS) requires that providers notify Medicare beneficiaries whenever a service or supply is not covered. This is required for both Original Medicare beneficiaries and Priority Health Medicare members. For Priority Health Medicare members, providers should either use their own notice which identifies what the service is and that it is not covered by Medicare, or they can use an Advance Beneficiary Notification of Noncoverage (ABN) form for all services not covered under Priority Health Medicare plans. Complete details and the form (CMS-R-131) are available at cms.gov.
