The State of Michigan has announced that there is not a serum shortage for the 2007-08 flu season. All providers must use the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program, administered through the State of Michigan.
Private stock vaccines will not be reimbursed Should providers choose to use private stock for their Medicaid members, 18 years and under, they will not be reimbursed by Priority Health. It is a State requirement for Medicaid providers to use the State's free service. Only in the event of a State declared shortage will exceptions be made. Shipping issues? Shipping issues with the VFC program does not constitute a shortage. If shipping issues occur, providers should contact their local Health Department office. If private stock is used they can not seek payment for private stock that was used.
