Helping Employees with Alcohol Abuse

National Alcohol Screening Day is April 5, 2007.

As an employer, you're in a position to help your employees identify when they have a problem with alcohol and learn how to get help.

Alcohol Is Your Problem, Too
One in every 13 adults abuses alcohol. This is a problem for employers, because alcohol and drug users:
  • Are far less productive
  • Use three times as many sick days
  • Are more likely to injure themselves
  • Are five times more likely to file Worker's Compensation claims
  • Cost businesses $134 billion a year nationally, not including diverting company resources

National Alcohol Screening Day is a great opportunity to encourage employees to get help.
