Annual visits to hemophilia treatment centers

Members of Priority Health medical plans who have hemophilia must visit a recognized hemophilia treatment center (HTC) once a year. Research has shown that patients who receive care through HTCs have better health, improved satisfaction and reduced costs.

If you do not see an HTC near you in the list below, go to the list of centers on the Centers for Disease Control website.

What is a hemophilia treatment center?

HTCs offer a broad range of treatment and prevention services. These services are provided by a care team that includes physicians who specialize in hematology, psychologists, nurses, genetic counselors, dentists, dental hygienists, dietitians and other relevant hemophilia specialists.

Hemophilia treatment centers are designated by the federal government. Learn more at the Centers for Disease Control website.

The comprehensive care you get from an HTC can:

  • Increase number of patients performing home infusions
  • Decrease the number of hospital admissions
  • Decrease the average days-per-year lost from work or school
  • Decrease unemployment
  • Decrease hospitalization and mortality rates
