Online Senior Health Education Classes

If you are 60 or older and you live in Allegan, Ionia, Kent, Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Montcalm, Newaygo, or Osceola county, the two online health courses described below are free.

  • Take them at your own pace, at your own time; they're available 24 hours a day.
  • Both courses will be available throughout the month of October 2008.
  • Course work must be completed online by Friday, October 31, 2008.
  • Successful completion of a course requires that you complete (1) an online quiz and (2) a workshop evaluation/exit survey.

Health Promotion for Successful Aging

This easy to use Web-based workshop will help you to understand the value of health promotion in successful aging, and educate you about healthy lifestyle choices and practices.  You will learn to recognize and understand issues related to health promotion, and how to apply these concepts to your life.


Chronic Disease Management

This course will help you to understand common chronic conditions and their effect on older persons.  It examines four common chronic diseases and their impact upon older adults, and a variety of management techniques designed to improve the quality of life of older persons with such chronic conditions.
