First copay for an ACEI or ARB generic drug is on us
Beginning Jan. 1, 2012, Medicare patients who are newly prescribed a generic ACEI or ARB drug
will have their first copay waived. To be eligible the Priority Health member cannot have a claim
for a generic ACEI or ARB drug filled in the last 13 months. Members currently on these drugs (as
shown by claims on file in the last 13 months) will not have their first copay waived.
If appropriate, encourage your patients to show their member ID card to make sure we receive a
claim and waive their first copay. You may also want to encourage patients who currently take a
brand-name ACEI or ARB drug to switch to a less expensive generic to save money and get their
first copay waived.
