Pneumonia vaccines for Medicare patients

Please make sure your patients who are 65 or older, especially those who have an underlying condition or respiratory disease, have had a pneumonia vaccine. Medicare covers the shot once for patients in this age group. Depending on the type of health plan a patient has, there may be an office visit copay or out-of-network costs.

Remember, patients who were vaccinated before age 65 may need another dose if at least five years have passed since their last shot.
