Test for STIs in "abstinent" young adults

According to a recent study, there is a discrepancy between a young adults' positive sexually transmitted infection (STI) status and their self-reported behavior of abstinence. Among those who tested positive, more than 10% reported abstaining from intercourse in the previous 12 months. This confirms the importance of routine testing for STIs.
