Medigap plan changes
Effective June 1, 2010, the federal government has mandated that all Medigap plans include enhanced hospice coverage — after Medicare pays 100 percent of member hospice care costs, Medigap plans will cover the respite care and prescription drugs associated with hospice care.
In addition, the government is:
- Eliminating Plans E, H, I and J
- Adding Plans M and N
We're also taking this opportunity to "fine tune" our Medigap offerings and make a few additions and changes. Effective June 1, 2010:
- We're lowering premiums for preferred plans (currently all our Medigap members are in preferred plans).
- We're adding Plans D and N.
- We'll no longer offer Plan C (we'll offer A, D, F and N only).
- All plans will include the enhanced hospice care.
