Electronic prescribing measurement period begins July 1
To meet this measure, a practice must obtain a 50 percent rate of electronic prescribing. For the purpose of this measure, the definition of e-prescribing is a prescription electronically generated from end to end. Priority Health captures this data from the origin code submitted from the pharmacy. Prescriptions that aren't eligible for e-prescribing submission are excluded from this measure.
The measurement period runs from July 1, 2010, to December 31, 2010, and includes members in our HMO/POS, Medicare and Medicaid plans. Practices can receive $0.25 per member per month with a maximum payout of $1,000 per physician in the practice. The per member per month rate will apply for all 12 months of the calendar year, and will be based on the performance incurred during the third and fourth quarters of 2010 as stated in the measure numerator and denominator descriptions.
