H1N1 virus, asthma and your patient's asthma action plan

With the swine flu making headlines, it's important for asthma patients to have a personal Asthma Action Plan. Since both swine flu and asthma attack the airways, it makes people with asthma more vulnerable to pneumonia and asthma exacerbations. Have a clearly written plan on what actions your patients should take if they have the flu, such as monitoring peak flow rates, and having an inhaler and nebulizer on hand.
