Medicaid and birth control
Priority Health’s Government Programs are promoting the use of birth control to Medicaid members via field service representative phone calls, home visits and letters as part of our maternity followup care, so you may see an increase in patients asking about birth control. Note: contraceptive medications/devices don’t require a referral. Contraception is available for patients ages 12+ with no copay (includes condoms for boys); and beginning at age 21, copays are $1 for generics and $3 for brand.
For coverage under our other plans or whenever you’re unsure, please contact the Provider Helpline to verify benefits before turning patients away. Or view
