Generic copays for long-term controllers available

Last year, QVAR, Pulmicort and Symbicort were moved to a tier 1 (generic) copay for commercial members. We recently informed members taking asthma long-term controllers of lower-cost alternatives. Members received either an automated phone call or a letter to inform them.

We received incredible feedback – showing that 25% of members are interested in switching to lower cost products! But only a few have switched so far. We need your help! Talk with your patients regarding these alternatives. Members save on average $30 per month. And reducing your patient’s copay burden may improve adherence and positively impact your asthma 2:1 ratio for the asthma medication measure in the provider incentive program Partners in Performance.
