Process change for BH auths

Change to process for initial evaluation auths

(Nov. 1, 2009) - Effective November 1, 2009, in order to help our members receive their initial evaluations more quickly, we are no longer requiring a behavioral health provider to be identified in the authorizations.

Courtesy faxes and online access discontinued

Since the member doesn't have to select a behavioral health provider before we issue authorization, we don't know who they have chosen. This means:
  • We can no longer send you a courtesy fax before the initial evaluation.
  • The authorizations will not be available to view through our website.

Members still request authorizations

Members are still required to contact Priority Health to get authorizations for their initial evaluations. If a member doesn't get prior authorization for an initial evaluation it is a member liability.

Please direct members with questions to our Behavioral Health department at 800 673-8043.
