Nominations for senior volunteers

The Senior Impact Awards program is seeking nominations for senior volunteers

(GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – May 11, 2009) Priority Health is launching the Senior Impact Awards, a program that recognizes senior volunteers for making a difference in the communities where they live and work. As part of this recognition, four outstanding volunteers will earn a $1,000 donation for the nonprofit organization where they volunteer.

"This program creates an opportunity for Priority Health to recognize those in our community who are improving the lives and health of others," said Kimberly K Horn, president and CEO of Priority Health. "Through their commitment they are helping make life just a little easier for all of us."

Priority Health developed the Senior Impact Award to discover and recognize the ways senior volunteers put their energy and commitment to work for the community. The awards program is open to all Michigan residents age 63 and older who volunteer for a nonprofit organization. Priority Health is working with the United Way and the Volunteer Centers of Michigan in 31 counties throughout Michigan to offer this program.

An independent group of community members will select each nominee. Senior Impact Award winners will be chosen based on their ability to inspire and motivate others and their exceptional contributions. Nominations must be received by July 15, 2009.
