(FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – October 8, 2008) Priority Health has announced further expansion of its Michigan HMO plan service area. Priority Health now covers all of Monroe and Genesee counties.
With this expansion, Priority Health now covers 66 of the 68 counties in Michigan's Lower Peninsula, including metropolitan Detroit. Coverage has also expanded in Shiawassee and Lapeer Counties. The service area expansion was approved by the State of Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation (OFIR), which regulates health plans. "With this expansion, our HMO product covers all of southeast Michigan and we have expanded our reach in mid Michigan," said Mike Koziara, vice president for the company's eastern region. Major health systems included in the Priority Health provider network in these counties include Mercy Memorial Hospital System in Monroe and Hurley Medical Center in Flint.
