HMO now covers 65 counties

Priority Health adds four counties to its service area

(FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – July 10, 2008) Priority Health, Michigan’s top-rated health plan, has expanded the coverage area for its HMO product. With this expansion, Priority Health now covers 65 of the 68 counties in Michigan's Lower Peninsula including metropolitan areas such as southeastern Michigan.

Coverage has expanded within Bay and Tuscola counties. In addition, Priority Health now covers portions of Huron, Sanilac, Lapeer and Arenac. The expansion was approved by the State of Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation (OFIR), which regulates health plans.

"By expanding our service area, we are able to offer Michiganders excellent and affordable health care whether they live at the shores of Lake Michigan or at the shores of Lake Huron," said Mike Koziara, vice president for the eastern region.

Major health systems included in the Priority Health provider network in these counties include Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe, Marlette Regional Hospital in Marlette and St. Mary's of Michigan Standish Hospital in Standish.
