Announcing Open Network for Members

(August 14, 2006 - Grand Rapids) Beginning this month, Priority Health is moving to an open network model, providing members with the flexibility to receive office care from a specialist in the Priority Health network without first getting a referral from their primary care physician (PCP). In addition, fewer services will require pre-authorization, which will expedite care for members and reduce administrative costs for network physicians. Some services, such as Behavioral Health, will still require prior authorization.

"These changes keep us at the forefront of industry trends and enables us to continue to make life easier for our members," said Kimberly K. Horn, president and CEO of Priority Health. "Members will still select a PCP, and we expect most will continue to coordinate care through them. This new open model simply provides members with the choice to seek specialty care on their own."

Members can find a specialist online quickly and easily by going to the "Find a Doctor" directory and clicking on "Search by Type of Care," then choosing "Specialist."
