Who Needs a Flu Shot?

The flu vaccine is in short supply this year. Priority Health encourages everyone in a “priority population” to get one right away if possible.

Priority populations include:
  • Anyone age 65 years or older
  • Children age 6-23 months
  • Children over age 2 and adults who have medical conditions that put them at a high risk for serious complications from the flu
  • Women who will be pregnant during the flu season
  • Health-care workers involved in direct patient care
  • Caregivers of children younger than 6 months
  • Residents of long-term care facilities or nursing homes

Remember, Priority Health covers flu shots when given by a member’s Primary Care Physician.  Flu shots will not be covered when given by other providers such as clinics, grocery stores, or schools.
