Using your network
Priority Health contracts with thousands of doctors, specialists, hospitals, and other health care providers to offer care to our members. We check that their licenses are current, that they have a record of good care and few patient complaints, and that they are in good standing with the Boards that accredit them. We want to make sure you are getting high quality health care.
Your network = your discount on services
When Priority Health contracts with a doctor or other health care provider to be in a plan's network, we negotiate a discount on services.
- You get the discount when you pay. Before you meet your deductible, you pay "full price" for services - but you get the Priority Health discount.
- We get the discount when we pay. This lowers the cost of your health care, which helps us to keep the cost of premiums down.
Find health care providers in your network
Each Priority Health medical plan has a different network. Use the online Find a Doctor directory to find doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and other health care providers that accept your Priority Health plan.

Choose a PCP
In a Priority Health HMO or POS plan, you'll choose a primary care physician or other primary health care provider (your "PCP") from your network. If you have a PPO plan you don't have to choose a primary care physician, but it's a good idea. He or she will:
- Coordinate your care, making sure you don't receive any duplicate or unnecessary services, which helps keep your costs low.
- Make sure your records are complete
- Watch for any conflicting prescriptions written by your other doctors that might cause problems
Each family member can choose his or her own PCP. (Many women prefer an OB/GYN as a PCP, for example, and you can choose a pediatrician as a PCP for children.)
You can change your PCP once during any calendar month. The change is effective the first of the following month.
Go to any specialist in our network without a referral
Priority Health doesn't ask you to get a referral from your PCP to see a specialist. However, some specialists do require a referral from your PCP.
