New Medicare HIV screening coverage

As of January 1, 2010, all Medicare Advantage plans must cover human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) testing for at-risk or pregnant Medicare beneficiaries. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved and standard HIV rapid screening tests are covered. Testing for HIV, which causes AIDS, is completely voluntary.

Your Priority Health Medicare plan has always covered these voluntary tests under the lab services benefit. Please see your Evidence of Coverage for details on your lab benefit.

If you have questions, call Customer Service toll-free at 888 389-6648. TTY/TDD users can call 888 551-6761. More details are available at prioritymedicare.com under "News."

Why you may get two Medicare packets

It's possible that both you and another family member you live with will receive packets of information about our Medicare plans. While sending one packet can save us money, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has strict rules and regulations that we must follow. One of these regulations is that we must send each member the required documents. In the future, we hope to offer you the option of receiving documents electronically.
