E-prescribing: The future is now
Many doctors can now send your prescription directly to your pharmacy using e-prescribing.
E-prescribing involves putting important details about a prescription into a computer software application. The information is then sent to the pharmacy through an EDI (electronic data interchange) or electronic fax. Using electronic information helps reduce the chance for error. Doctors also receive basic information about prescriptions right away, so they can make necessary changes before you get to the pharmacy. E-prescribing is more common than you think. Ask your doctor about it next time you need a prescription filled. It can make your life a little easier.
