Q&A with Customer Service

Amy M., Customer Service representative
I enjoy talking with our Medicare members. Recently, a member mentioned that he is homebound and misses the benefits of physical therapy. He didn't know that his
benefits included coverage for rehabilitative services. I helped him with the authorization process, and we located an in-network provider. A skilled health care worker is now coming to his home twice a week to offer physical therapy.

Question: "What is the difference between home health care and homemaker services? Does Priority Health Medicare pay for this?"
Answer: "Home health care services include physical, occupational and speech therapy. Priority Health Medicare covers these services, but prior authorization is required. Homemaker services — like laundry, meal preparation and shopping — assist people with personal or domestic tasks. Because these services aren’t primarily medical in nature, they aren’t covered."
