Bextra Removed from the Market
April 7, 2005 - After concluding that the overall risk versus benefit profile is unfavorable, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has requested Pfizer, Inc., to voluntarily withdraw Bextra (valdecoxib) from the market. This action is effective immediately; Bextra is no longer available from any pharmacy.

Priority Health members who have current Bextra prescriptions should call their doctors to determine which alternative treatment they should use.
