FAQs about Walgreen's mail service

Jump down the page to answers to these questions:

Q: How long will it take to get my order?

For your first mail order prescription, allow 14 days from the day you mail the prescription until you receive it. For refills, allow 14 days if you order by mail OR 7-10 days if you order online or over the phone. Remember, due to high mail delivery volumes, certain times of the year are busier than others.  Allow yourself extra time during these times.

Q: What if I need to start taking the medication right away?

Ask your doctor/prescriber for two prescriptions: a 30-day supply and a 90-day supply with three refills. Take the 30-day supply prescription to your local pharmacy, and send the 90-day supply prescription to Walgreens Mail Service.

Q: Can I order any prescription from the mail service?

Most medications can be ordered via mail service, but there are exceptions:
    • 90-day supplies of Prilosec OTC, oral contraceptives, loratadine, cetirizine, and Zaditor OTC are available for just one copayment from any participating pharmacy
    • The FDA does not allow prescriptions for Accutane to be filled by mail order.
    • Due to Florida law, prescriptions for some medications cannot be filled by mail. Walgreens Mail Service is based in Florida.
    • "Specialty" medications, which are typically those that are injected and used to treat rare conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, Hepatitis and certain cancers, should be ordered by your doctor from the specialty pharmacy.

Q: How do I pay for my order?

You can pay with a credit card: American Express®, Discover Card®, MasterCard® and Visa® are accepted. If ordering by mail, you can send a check or money order payable to Walgreens Mail Service. If paying by check, include the following information:
    • Name and the name of the dependent whose prescription you are filling
    • Address
    • Telephone number
    • One of the following: order number, prescription number, invoice number
    • Priority Health member ID number from your Priority Health ID card

Q: How can I check the status of my order?

There are three ways to check the status of your order:
    • Online through your account at WalgreensMail.com
    • Subscribe to e-mail updates from Walgreens Mail Service. You'll receive an email when your order is received and another when it is shipped.
    • By calling Walgreens Customer Care Center (toll free) at 877 259-2165.
If you do not receive your order within 10 business days from the time it was placed, contact Walgreens Customer Care Center.

    Q: How do I order a refill?

Verify the refill date, which can be found on the refill order form that arrived with your medications. You can order refills in several ways:
    • Online from WalgreensMail.com
    • By mail by sending the Refill Order Form that was included with your last order
    • By phone by calling 800 797-3345

Q: What is Auto Refill, and how do I sign up for it?

Walgreens Mail Service offers an Auto Refill option for prescribed maintenance medication. You can select this option on the Registration and Prescription Order Form (your original request), the Prescriber Fax Form or the Refill Order Form. Once you select it, Walgreens Mail Service will automatically refill your prescription(s) at the appropriate time and bill the credit card on file with them.

To discontinue or update Auto Refill, call (toll free) 877 259-2165 at least two weeks prior to your next refill date.

Q: What happens when my prescription expires, or there are no more refills?

Walgreens Mail Service will try to contact your provider to request renewal verification. If your doctor/provider cannot be reached, Walgreens will call and send written notification to you notifying you that your prescription has expired and/or that there are no refills remaining. You'll need to contact your doctor to ask for a new prescription.
