Q: How do I order my prescriptions for injectable drugs?
A: Your doctor will order specialty drugs for you through a specialty pharmacy. Q: What is a "specialty drug"? A: A specialty drug is one that requires special handling. It is generally self-administered and used for a chronic illness. Q: What is a "specialty pharmacy"? A: A specialty pharmacy ships specialty drugs (such as injectable drugs) and related supplies, such as needles, directly to either you or your physician. It also provides comprehensive, high-quality pharmacy care management, service and support for complex medical conditions to both physicians and patients. Q: Will this cost me more than ordering from a regular pharmacy? A: It may mean that you owe a different amount. For example, Human Growth Hormone was formerly covered under your medical benefit so you had no copayment. Now under the pharmacy benefit it will require a prescription copayment. Q: What if I don't have prescription coverage? A: If you do not have prescription coverage through Priority Health, you will need to contact your HR department. Q: What specialty pharmacies do I use? A: Your doctor will order your drug from Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy in Grand Rapids. They are the only specialty pharmacy that Priority Health authorizes to provide injectable drugs to our members, and they will ship everywhere. Q: Are there limits on how much of these medications I can order? A: We will cover up to a one-month supply per order. Q: What about the supplies I need to go with my medications? A: Everything you need to administer your drug (swabs, needles, etc.) will be included with your order at no additional charge. Q. Who do I call if I have more questions about getting my injectable drugs? A. Call our Customer Service Department at 616 942-1221, or toll-free at 800 446-5674.
