Join us at Older Michiganians Day

(June 10, 2011)

Priority Health co-sponsors Older Michiganians Day

For the second year, Priority Health will be participating in Older Michiganians Day in our state capital. The June 15 rally seeks to advocate on behalf of issues and programs that affect older Michigan residents. More than 750 senior advocates from across the state are expected to attend.

The theme for this fourth annual rally, “Older Michiganians Day 2011,” is The Senior WAVE – We Advocate, Vote, and Enrich Communities.  Older Michiganians Day is named for the state law that earmarks state funding for older adult services. Delegates from across the state will meet with their representatives and senators to discuss the benefits that elders bring to the state and to promote three strategies that will help Michigan and its most vulnerable citizens get through this tough economic time.

Older Michigan Day participants will ask legislators to:

  1. Invest in results-oriented solutions that make optimal use of public dollars
  2. Provide choices to support independent living and strengthen the economy and
  3. Protect vulnerable older adults by passing elder abuse laws.
