This year there’s no "open enrollment period" from Jan. 1 to March 31 where you could switch from many plans to many others. Instead, from Jan. 1 to Feb. 14, 2011, you have a few limited options.
Between Jan. 1 and Feb. 14, 2011 you can leave your Medicare Advantage or private fee-for-service (PFFS) plan and switch to Original Medicare. It's also your chance to add a Priority Health Medigap (Medicare Supplement) and a PriorityMedicare RxSM (PDP) prescription drug plan to help pay some of the costs that Original Medicare doesn't cover.
During the Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period (MADP), you may want to switch plans if your doctor or hospital isn't in your plan's network or if you're not getting the coverage that's right for you.
